CAPRIVIANS MUST RISE TO THE OCCASION IN 2009
January 22, 2009

The past year has been eventful, and from the recent past, we can read the patterns of what might happen in the coming year. Namibians have been through a year characterized by political shenanigans within political parties and even more alarmingly, in all arms of government.

Lessons have to be drawn from these events and it is time Caprivians stood up for their country, especially in the face of national leadership inebriated with a hunger of total control of the Namibian institutions.

Caprivians need to wake up to the fact that Namibia is under siege from the clique of a political leaders who are hell-bent on destroying the roots of our beloved country and our cultural inheritances. SWAPO party is at the head of the government with its leadership that has already conspicuous defects. The country’s judicial system are not a substitute for an open fight for civil liberties as evidently the issue of Sikanjabuka village where state sponsored terror was waged to those not supporting the regime and the culprits were never brought to book though are well known. Neither is a lonesome corporate body the right institution to lead such a fight.

What Caprivians should learn from this fiasco is that faced with a leadership steeped in a paternalistic and even militaristic ethos of leadership, the need to organize the structures of their party (UDP) and engage their leadership both in and outside the country (Caprivi), stand together as sons and daughters of the soil. This road leads to independence. Caprivi will be free, yes, we can.

One thing for sure “There could be no sunshine if it was not for rainfall, no joy if it was not for sorrow.” Independence will not come on a silver plate= BUT SACRIFICES WLL SEE US THROUGH. The year 2009 should be the year of implementation.
